Chapter 24
“Come on in!” A tall woman made a gesture while called out, in a really weird accent, it ought to be Spanish.

The two of them hoped in, but I was dragged in quite uneasily. I didn’t like taking a life from I stranger, it makes me nervous, that’s all. But something was still troubling me, what I fear is something I don’t even know myself. Such things could happen, it’s a baleful presage.
I was all squashed up between Andy and Helen. I had no choice; I didn’t want to sit by his mother, not when she is putting on that perverted geeky sad smile. Sorry to use so many adjectives, but I can hardly find one which could describe her smile perfectly.
Let me put it this way, the first time I saw her, I knew she wasn’t ordinary. That’s my first impression, and first impressions ought to be right.
“I’m going to bake you guys pizza for dinner.” She said, without turning.
She was terribly old-fashioned, who ever BAKE pizza now in America? For crying out loud, they order them! But of course, it was nice of her to offer that, only I couldn’t get used to her niceness for once in a while.
“So, I’ve always heard Andy talk about you,” She paused. I breathed hard. “I bet Andy really likes you, huh?” That, she turned around for; she must have notice I kept silent at that. Please, please, I don’t want to talk about it. (You know what I am into, I just found out Andy’s nasty little secret. And I am not sure I am his friend anymore, if you ask me.)
I wouldn’t speak.
Andy realized something was wrong, and he was like “MOM!!” As if he came to my defense or something, but I knew it was only for his prestige.
“What? Did I say anything wrong?” Oh that geeky smile again. “No need to be ashamed.”
I am not ashamed!!! Don’t you see, silence is golden, as people say?
Andy blushed miserably. His mom was his nightmare, I totally understand.
“Oh,” She turned around to Helen, who was staring at the zip of her bag; I thought it was fixed, as if thinking of something nasty. “I heard you broke up with Todd.” She began.
Helen raised her head, all red.
“No, to be exact, Todd dumped you.” She corrected. You know what, I just wanted to put a gag on her mouth and tell her to shut up and stop being a bird brain.
Helen was silent.
“Don’t be sad or anything,” She continued, half looking at the steering wheel. “Todd is a great guy but there are better, of course it’s Andy that I prefer…”
“MOM!!!” Andy shrieked again, looking offended. Of course, that was just his acting; he had a reason to be happy.
This is mad. And I can’t believe that I am in this madness.
