I wondered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales2 and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host3, of golden daffodils;
Fluttering4 and dancing in the breeze. 5
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle6 on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay7:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing8 their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they Outdid the sparkling9 waves in glee10 :
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund11 company.
