DJ Williams is a 19-year-old who grew up in Los Angeles; DJ is a good person and a gifted dancer who performs on the street. He runs with a dangerous crowd, and one night at an underground dance competition, a fight happens and he ends up1 in jail. DJ's younger brother died in a violent situation. His mother, hoping that the same won't happen to him, sends DJ off to Truth University, an African-American college. However, adapting to his new environment proves difficult, as the student group he joins isn't popular. He uses his dancing ability to help his team win the National Step Show Championship. Because of this a rival2 student group, at the University, treat him badly. DJ must cope with this as well as pursue his interests and the true meaning of brotherhood.
