Plot
Quill, a labrador1 puppy, was chosen for guide dog training. He is taken in by“foster parents2”, where he enjoys his happy puppy days. When he reaches his first birthday, he is sent to a training center and then become an ideal guide dog. Quill's trainer decides that Quill would be the guide dog for Watanabe, who is blind and first refuses to take a seeing-dog3. From the day Quill joins the Watanabe household, Watanabe's range of activities broadens rapidly. A following incident occurs which cause the seemingly incompatible4 man and dog to come to rely on each other. The bond between Quill and his partner, who rediscovers the joy of life, grows deeper with each passing day... Until, one day, they face a sudden and sorrowful parting...

Shipwrecked11 by a storm, the dog Benji lost in the woods. He wanders into a pack of cougar12 cubs13 whose mother was killed. The brave house pet becomes the protector of these orphans14. For protecting them from harm Benji himself has been targeted for a quick demise15 by a black wolf. Benji's self-devotion to categorical16 duty (he deliberately17 avoids being rescued18 until he find a new and safe home for three cubs.) warmed so many hearts. Both Benji the dog and his trainer Frank Inn play themselves in the movie. Accidentally19 separated from20 Inn early in the film, the loveable pooch21 is forced to fend for22 himself in the Pacific Northwest.
About Director
Joe Camp was writer, producer and director of the hugely successful Benji series, which includes “Benji,” “For the Love of Benji” and “Benji the Hunted”. He directs his doggie star with more confidence than his human actors. In fact, the film would have benefited immensely by a complete lack of human characters and the wilderness photography is never less than impressive. “The public loves Benji because he is a scrappy23, determined underdog24 who is the heart and soul of the story. More importantly, they are watching and falling in love with an animal actor—in this case, for the first time, an animal acting team, with Benji and his sidekick25. The emotion and dialogue that comes from deep in their eyes and their almost-human actions are what connects with viewers of all ages.”

Opal is a 10-year-old girl who has just moved to a small town with her preacher father. The move has caused Opal to lose all her friends, and now she must start all over again. Life has been a little tough for Opal, since her mother abandoned them when she was three. One day Opal catches sight of a dog being chased after by clerks at the Winn-Dixie supermarket. Opal saves him and gives his name “Winn-Dixie”. She takes him home, and convinces her father to keep the dog temporarily26. After a few days Opal discovers that Winn-Dixie is able to make friends with everyone he meets, and Opal has some new friends because of Winn-Dixie. The dog brings happiness to the lonely girl and opens up hearts of the people in town... Whether you believe or not, the dog in the movie can actually smile!

·Winn-Dixie was played by two different Picardy Shepherds27, a rare breed from France.
·To make sure both dogs got on well with AnnaSophia Robb, who played Opal, she was brought in early to get acquainted with28 the dogs and give them treats. By the time shooting started, they considered her a “safe” area.

Behind the Scenes
For the new movie, it took a whole day to shoot just three seconds of film! That's because the movie was filmed using stop-motion36 clay animation37.
●Clay Actors
Wallace, Gromit the dog, and their friends are sculpted38 from modeling clay39. Called “puppets40,” they're molded41 around flexible42 metal skeletons43 that strengthen the puppets and help them hold their poses. Fast, sudden movements are difficult to create when working with clay. So are moving lips. So each puppet has a different clay mouth for each sound it makes. Wallace has about 20 clay mouths.
●Shoot, Click, Score!
Filming in stop-motion takes patience. First the animators position the puppets and shoot one frame of film. Then they move the puppets a tiny bit and shoot another frame. This continues until an entire scene is shot. For instance, if Wallace is waving, animators will move his hand about one-eighth of an inch between frames.

·粘土演员
华莱士、格勒米特和它们的朋友们都是用雕塑粘土雕刻出来的，被称为“木偶”。它们由有弹性的金属骨架支撑而雕塑成形。骨架帮助木偶固定，以及保持各种姿势。快速、突然爆发的动作很难用粘土表现出来，比如像动着的嘴唇。所以每个木偶都有几个粘土口型，来配合它发出的每一种声音。华莱士约有20个黏土口型。
·开拍，咔嚓，完！
拍摄定格动画需要耐心。首先动画制作者把摆好木偶，拍摄第一格镜头；然后他们把木偶挪动一点点，再拍摄下一格镜头。如此反复直到整个场景拍完。例如华莱士挥手那一场，动画制作者就要在每一格镜头之前，把他的手移动1/8英寸。
