1.
O(short for Oliver): Look, Miss Cavilleri. I told you my name is Oliver.
J(for Jennifer): First or last?
O: First.
J : Oliver what?
O: Barret.
J : Barret like the poet?
O: Yes, no relation.
J: Barret like the hall?
O: Yes.
J: Hey, I'm  having  coffee  with a real Harvard building. You're Barret Hall.
O: No,  I'm   not  Barret  Hall. My great grandfather just happened to give the thing to Havard.
J: So his not-so-great-grandson would be able to get in.
O: If   you're   so   convinced I'm a loser, why did you bulldoze me into buying you coffee?
J: I like your body.

2.
O: Hello,  Jen,  what would you say if I told you—I think I'm in love with you.
J: Never   say  love  if  you don't really mean it.
O: What   made  you  think  that I don't mean it?
J: Oh, you're number one, Barret.
O: Meaning?
J: You're  known for quantity; I mean at Radcliff's every hall is Barret Hall.
O: Checking up on me, haven't you?
J: I  don't  dine outdoors with just anybody.
O: Am I just anybody?
J: What do you think, Preppie?

3.
O: Jenny?
J: Yeah?
O: Who's Phil?
J:  My father.
O: You call your father Phil?
J: That's  his  name. What do you call your father?
O: Son of a bitch.
J:  To his face?
O: I never see his face.
J:  Why? Does he wear a mask?
O: In a way.
J:  Then why is he a son of a bitch?
O: Because he leans on me. Because he makes me do the right things.
J: What's  wrong  with  doing the right things?
J:  I don't like to be programmed in the Barret tradition. I don't like to have to put out some amount of achievement every term.

4.
J: You  really  like  to  bug your father, don't you?
O: The  feeling  is  mutual. Haven't you noticed?
J: I mean, I didn't think you'd stop at anything that gets to the old man.
O: It's  impossible  to get to Oliver Barret the Third.
J: Unless  maybe  if  you marry Jeniffer Cavilleri?
O: Is that what you think?
J:  Yes. I think it's part of it.
O: Jenny, you don't believe I love you?
J: Yes.  But  in  a  crazy sort of way, I think you also love my negative social status.
O: No.
J: Listen, I can't pass judgement, Oliver, I just think so. I mean I know that I love not only you, but also your name and your numeral. After all, it's part of what you are.
O: Oh, how can you do it.
J:  What?
O: How  can  you  see me and still love me?
J: That's what it's about, preppie.

5.
Father: What  is  there  to say? You're presenting us with a fait accompli. Are you not?
O: But what did you think?
F:  I  think  she  is absolutely charming, and I think for a girl from her background to get all the way to Radcliffe is...
O: Get to the point.
F: The point doesn't concern the young lady, it concerns you. You're rebelling.
O: Ah...
F: You are rebelling.
O: I  fail... I fail to see how marrying a beautiful and brilliant Radcliffe girl constitutes rebellion. I mean she is not some crazy hippie.
F: She is not many things.
O: What  aches  you  most, father? That she is Catholic or that she's poor?
F:  What attracts you most?
O:  I'm leaving.
F: Don't go off half, God damn it. I'd only ask you to wait a bit.
O: Define “bit”.
F: Finish Law School if this thing is
real, it will stand the test of time.
O: It is real. But I don't see why I have to put it to some arbitrary test.
F: Because I am asking you.
O: You're commanding me.
F: Oliver, If you marry her now, I'll not give you the time of day.
O: Father, you  don't  know the time of day.

6.
O: I give you my hand. I give you my love, more precious than money. I give you myself before preaching or law. Will you give me yourself? Will you come travel with me? Shall we stick by each other as long as we live? I, Oliver Barret, take you, Jeniffer Cavilleri, to be my wedded wife. From this day forward, to love and to cherish till death do us part.
J: I, Jennifer Cavilleri, take you, Oliver Barret as my wedded husband, from this day forward, to love and to cherish till death do us part.
Preacher: By  the  authority invested in me, by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, I pronounce you man and wife.

7.
O:Hey, Mrs. Barret.
J:  I'm  in  the kitchen, where  I belong. Get the hell in here, Preppie.
O: Hey, Mrs. Barret, guess what.
J:  You got fired.
O: I got fired up. And guess where to?
J:  Reno, Nevada.
O: Paris,  France.  We'll  be there Christmas Day.
J:  No Olly, that's not the way we're going to do it.
O: Do what?
J:  I don't want Paris, I don't need Paris. I just want you.
O: Well, that you've got, baby.
J: And   I  want  time, which you can't give me.
O: You saw Doctor Shafely?
J:  Hmmm-mm.  And  his  buddy  too.  He's a very nice guy.
O: Who?
J: Doctor Addison, he's a Yale-ee; college and med-school. But I said you wouldn't mind.
O: No, not if he's a nice guy...
J:  He's a nice guy, all right. You know, he didn't bullshit me and that's what I wanted.
O: Okay  then, for the Yale-ee doctor.
J:  Okay.
J:  I'm  counting  on  you  to  be strong, you God-damned hockey-jock.
O: I will, baby. I will.
J:  I mean, for Phil. It's going to be hardest on him. You, after all, you're going to be the merry widower.
O: I won't be married.
J: Yes, you will be. I want you to be married. You'll be married. Okay?
O: Okay.
J:  Okay.

8.
O: You want to talk music?
J: What  do you want to talk? Funerals? Olly? I told Phil you could have a Catholic service and you'd say okay. Okay? It'll really help him a lot, you know?
O:  Okay.
J: Now  you've  gotta   stop   being  sick. The guilty look on your face; it's sick. Would you stop blaming yourself, you God-damned stupid Preppie! It's nobody's fault. It's not your fault. That's the only thing I'm gonna ask you, otherwise I know you're gonna be okay. Screw Paris.
O: What?
J: Screw   Paris  and  music  and  all  that stuff you thought you stole from me. I don't care, don't you believe that? Then get the hell out of here! I don't want you at my God-damned death bed.
O: I believe you. I really do.
J: That's   better. Would   you please do something for me, Olly? Would you please hold me? I mean really hold me, next to me.
