There are four famous tradition festivals in China. They are the Tomb-Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Day, and Spring Festival. Mid-Autumn Day is in the middle of every autumn. This year’s Mid-Autumn Day is on September 19th.
The special food on Mid-Autumn Day is moon cake. There are many flavors of moon cake like strawberries, pineapples, meat, black sesame, and purple potato. I like lotus paste with dry yolk in the middle moon cake.
Chinese people also get used to enjoy the full moon on Mid-Autumn Day night. The moon looks like that it’s the biggest, the brightest, and the roundest of the year.
Why do that Chinese people eat moon cake on Mid-Autumn Day?
My grandpa told me that long ago, there are many people living in every Chinese family. Moon cakes were made in home instead of been bought in markets. They were big, round, and they were also decorated pretty. In the night of the Mid-Autumn Day, people put them under the moonlight first and let the moon taste. Then, they cut it into small pieces and every person of the family share. People use this activity to celebrate the reunite of the whole family.
Then why do Chinese people enjoy the full moon on Mid-Autumn Day night?
My grandpa told me that in one family sometimes there are some families members can’t come back home and reunite. But they could still see the moon. The meaning of enjoying the full moon is, the family looks at the moon and they think that they saw the people those were in other places. And the people those were in other places look at the moon and imagine that he saw his family. Because there’s no television, internet and video at that time.
In China, Mid-Autumn Day is the festival for family. This year’s Mid-Autumn Day had almost arrived now. I wish that every family harmony and felicity. And I wish that every children a happy Mid-Autumn Day.
