“When he’s not causing noticeable disturbances, he’s somewhat withdrawn. He’s stopped combing his hair, he slumps in his seat, and he keeps his head down on the desk unless I constantly remind him to sit up and pay attention.” 小荷作文网 www.zww.cn
Those lines from ‘Tears of a tiger’ still resounded in my head after reading it a few weeks ago. 小 荷 作文网 www.zww.cn
This led me to the thought of warning signs. We are all great “observers” in life, we made great discoveries. But sometimes we don’t seem to notice the slightest details in life, which might lead to great consequences.
Andy, for instance, showed lots of these signs. We, as a reader, noticed that. The people around him, however, did not.
When Robert died, Andy’s life totally fell apart. He put all the blame on himself and never learned to accept it, which was probably the most grievous thing.
He couldn’t get the impression of Robert out of his mind; it kept on returning no matter how hard he tried. When it was winter, he thought about Robert, wondering if he was also cold up there. He dreamed about Robert, all alone in heaven. He had nightmares of Robert asking Andy to go up and keep him company. Those wild terrible thoughts haunted him, invaded him, he felt cold inside out.
Andy stopped participating in class, stopped handing in his homework (even though he had done his homework, which was a pretty odd thing.). He hid his true feelings from his family, friends, teachers, even the psychologist. But there were one person he could reveal his thoughts to, his girlfriend, Keisha.
Keisha was not aware of all Andy’s anxiety. Andy began to take his depression into this relationship, as a result, the two of them broke up.
No one noticed. I mean NO ONE, the psychologist thought he was going to work it out. The teachers thought he was in stabled condition. Even his parents were pretty sure he was alright. But only his younger brother Monty noticed. Therefore he drew tears on a tiger, representing Andy and his pain. I guess that was how the book got its name. But Monty was too young, he hardly knows anything. There’s definitely no way he could have helped Andy out.
After the loss of Keisha, things began to get hopeless. And finally, well, not surprisingly, Andy committed suicide. In his own house, with his father’s shot gun.
People saw how severe the matter was, blaming Andy for not letting them know. But I didn’t think it was Andy’s fault. If a person is upset, he must have shown some kind of signs. Though they might not be obvious, but they must be clear to someone who was willing to care.
I remember him saying such things as “It seems like bein' dead is the only way I'll ever feel alive again” and “It's not that I want to die it's just that I can't stand the pain of livin' anymore”. People would have stopped this tragedy if they were more careful.
So open up your eyes, people! Treat every one around you with love and care, and they world would be a lot brighter.
