Maria Jenkins is an English girl. She’s five, in Grade 1. She doesn’t like school a little bit.(She liked school first time. But it isn't like that for several times.) But she knows that she have to go to school. There are so many interesting things to learn, and she wants to learn them. But most of the time at school is learning. Because this thing. Maria often thinks: The only fun at school is the playtime and P.E. class. 小荷作文网 www.zww.cn
But someday, something change her thought…
This day, begin like any other days. She still gets up a little bit late. (Actually, she gets up more early. Because she watches the time wrong. It was 7:40. She thinks it was 8:35.) Then with her favourite fast breakfast: pancakes with maple syrup and milk. She carries her schoolbag and out of the door and runs to school.
She runs the halfway on her way to school--- ---she runs to the bookshop. The bookshop has a clock on the outside. It shows the time to Maria. It’s just 8:10. “I’m early.” Maria says to herself. “Teachers just come to school when it is 8: 30 to 8:40. But I still have time to buy a book, and since the bookshop is open.”
So, Maria walks into the bookshop. She chooses a story-book. “Oh, this story-book is so interesting. It will be a good book for me to read at playtime.”
Maria buys that book. It is called 100 Good Stories for Children. It costs 15 pounds.
When she has buy the book. She goes out of the bookshop and looked at the clock again. It’s 8:28. Maria thinks for a moment. She knows that if she walks from home to school it will use 30 minutes. If she jumps from home to school with no stopping, she will use 20 minutes. If she runs from home to school with no stopping, she will use only 10 minutes. So, if she wants to go to school after 8:40. She can only walk.
She runs down the little hill which the bookshop is on. She begins to sing her favourite go to school song (I've written it in <Maria's First Day at School>, but I don't mind write it again.):
I am going to school all by myself.
What a great day to get (to) school. Yes, it is!
The sun is going higher and higher it goes.
I like homework and play at school. I do!
If clock strikes at nine. I must get there.
Or I will be late for school, late for school.
And that’s what Maria always sings when she has a good mood and the sun is shining in the sky, and of course, when she was going to school.
After a minute she sees her school. She thinks this is the earliest time she had been to school. When she is on normal time. She usually is the backwards fifth go to school. There are 23 students in her class. When it is her turn on duty. She still goes later than 8:43. Maria stops thinking. She quickly walks to her classroom.
When Maria goes in her classroom, she is the first one gets to school in her class. Her class teacher, Miss White, was cleaning the classroom. So, she asks Maria to help her. Maria agreed.
Maria let every part of the classroom is clean. Her class teacher is very pleased with her. So she says to Maria, “Maria, you did a good job. I will let your Physical Education teacher let you have the free playing time for the whole Physical Education class today.”
“Oh boy. Oh boy. Thanks, Miss White!” said Maria. She is too happy that she is going crazy!
When Maria is having classes in the morning. She was well-behaved and her teacher give her another two prizes--- ---a pencil and an eraser.
When afternoon arrive. Maria cannot wait to get her last prize. She was going to have the free playing time for the whole Physical Education class today.
But has Miss White tell Maria’s Physical Education teacher, Miss Smith?
Maybe not. Because Miss White was correcting homework the whole playtime.
Maria saw her correcting their homework. She just wants to tell her now about her prize. But before she can raises up her hand. The school bell ring.
Maybe she cannot have her prize today. Maria was sad. She knew that it will be very hard if she gets that prize again, and Miss White maybe will forget about her prize. Most of all, she had never, ever gets that prize before.
But on the P.E. class. Miss Smith doesn’t let Maria run with the other children. Instead, she let her go on her favourite and her best at school--- ---the slide.
Maria asks Miss Smith, “Miss Smith. How do you know that I have my prize today?”
Miss Smith smiled, “I pass your classroom when your teacher said something to you. I hear it. It is about the prize you have. So, even Miss White forgets to tell me. You can still have your prize.”
“Oh, gee! Thanks, Miss Smith,” said Maria excitedly.
Her teacher smiled at her, “Don’t mention it, Maria. It’s your prize.”
When the other students still have to play sports. They look at Maria with expecting vision. They wish they were her, to be so lucky.
Maria smiled on her way back home that day, “I know now that the fun at school isn’t just playtime. I don’t care if I like to learn at school or not. But school is fun. When you get the prizes. The others will cheer and feel proud for you. And you will feel happy. I love school.”
And her favorite go to school song’s words change from that day:
I am going to school all by myself.
I am going to learn, play and work, too!
The sun is shining so brightly lit.
I love go to school. I love school.
I can’t wait to get there. Oh I can’t wait!
I can’t wait to get there. It’s my favorite (place)!
And that’s what she sings on a sunny day and when she was going to school having a great mood.
