  1. absurd [adj] : ridiculous or unreasonable.

ab = away from, off, badly.

Ex. Abrupt [adj] : broken off.

 

  1. admit [verb] : to agree that something is true, especially unwillingly.

ad = to, toward, against, intensely

Ex. Advent [noun] : the arrival of an event, invention or person.

       Illusion [noun] : an idea or belief which is not true.

       Irrational [adj] : not using reason or clear thinking.

 

  1. intercept [verb] : to stop and catch something someone before they are able to reach a particular place.

Inter = among, between, at intervals.

Ex. Intercede [verb] : to use your influence to persuade someone in authority to save someone else from punishment or to obtain forgiveness to this person.

 

  1. obloquy [noun] : verbal abuse of a person or thing.

Ob = toward, against, across, in the way of, opposite to, down, for, out of.

Ex.  Oblong [noun] an object or shape that is longer than it is wide, especially a four-sided flat shape with 4 angles of 90 and opposite sides of equal length.
