在饭店里，先打电话告诉柜台你要退房，可以节省你在柜台等待的时间，免得柜台人员到你房间来的时候，才打电话请人检查你房间的冰箱等。
(1) Hello, front desk? 喂，前台吗？
Front desk是指“旅馆的前柜台”，现在可指“前台人员”，也就是front desk staff。
(2) I'm getting ready to check out. 我准备退房了。
I'm ready的现在进行式是I'm getting ready。现在进行式除了表示“现在正在”以外，在这里表示“不久的未来”。这句话也可说成：I'm about to check out.（我就要退房了。）
【例】 Are you getting ready to find a job? 你是不是正准备找工作？
【比较】 I'm getting ready to check out. 我准备退房了。
I'm ready to check out. 我准备好退房了。
美国人喜欢说I'm ready之类的话，因为他们凡事都会预先准备，这和中国文化不同。

在饭店里面，你结账的时候，他们会马上派人到你的房间检查冰箱、房间的设备，看看有没有减少或损坏。
(6) I haven't used the fridge. 我没有用过冰箱。
也可说成：I didn't use the fridge. （我没有使用冰箱。）有些饭店将小冰箱称作minibar。所以，也可说成：I haven't used the minibar. （我没有用过小冰箱。）
(7) I need to get to the airport. 我必须到机场去。
【比较】 I need to get to the airport. 【较常说】
I need to go to the airport. 【较少说】
(8) Do you have a shuttle bus? 你们有往返公车吗？
凡是来回穿梭的，都叫shuttle，如space shuttle （航天飞机）。这里的a shuttle bus 是指an airport shuttle bus（到机场的来回班车）。也有downtown shuttle bus（到市中心的来回班车）。a shuttle bus也可以简称a shuttle。
也可以问饭店人员：Do you have a shuttle service? （你们有没有接送服务？）

一般美国人的习惯，是先把男士介绍给女士；把年轻的介绍给年长的，把地位低的介绍给地位高的。背了这九句后，你就会用英文介绍朋友了。
(1) Do you know Andy? 你认识安迪吗？
Have you met Andy? 你见过安迪吗?
Have you met Andy? 字面意思是“你见过安迪吗？”引申为“你认识安迪吗？”这句话也可以说成：Have you met Andy before? 字面意思是“你以前见过安迪吗？” know 和meet都有“认识”的意思。
(2) Let me introduce you. 让我替你作介绍。
这句话源自：
